The Sunday Book Club

Do you like Sundays? I do. In fact, I love Sundays as I can laze around, have a traditional South Indian lunch, chat with friends and family over the phone, read books or surf for books to beg, borrow or steal buy. It is generally a day for relaxing and recharging for the week to come.

Starting 30th September 2012, my Sundays are going to change, and I am very excited and happy and nervous about this. You see, I have agreed to be part of a new venture, and that too as a co-founder, no less ! Co-founder of The Sunday Book Club. Raghav (@raghavmodi), the founder of the very successful Movie Talk on Sunday (#MTOS), contacted Rahul (@meetneo) and me about 10 days back. And after a flurry of emails, DMs, and tweets, we found ourselves co-founders of The Sunday Book Club (#TSBC). 🙂

The Sunday Book Club on Twitter (#TSBC) is an initiative to get the Twitter Community together at a particular time and day each week to discuss various book-related topics. The aim of the whole exercise, besides having fun, is to find like-minded individuals who share the same passion for books as you do and in the process discover different books, authors, and genres that the bookworm in you might fancy.

In other words, it is the perfect opportunity for you to know about new books, interesting facts, and even participate in competitions and interact with special guests. The #TSBC events will take place from 15:00-16:00 Indian Standard Time every Sunday beginning 30th September. For more details on #TSBC, please visit my page on The Sunday Book Club. 

We welcome questions or suggestions and request you to comment below or send us a tweet. We recommend that you follow The Sunday Book Club’s Twitter handle @TSBookClub and the founders @raghavmodi, @sudhagee and @meetneo.

  1. Hm interesting.. all the very best in the new venture .. I will try to come online on twitter at that time .. but 3p is like 10am here .. I will probably be asleep at that time here on a sunday 🙂

    1. You can always go back to sleep after a stimulating session with #TSBC. Or you can always go to Amazon/Flipkart and order the next set of books. 😀 Either way,I hope to see you at The Sunday Book Club

  4. Sundays are very dear to my heart -I have a six day work schedule- I tend to fight tooth and nail all attempts to pilfer the precious seconds but when Sudhagee calls, I have to but fall in line! That is a great idea and I will be looking forward to many moments of exquisite company and enlightenment. My book reviews are going to sport the suggested hash tag beginning today!

  5. Very interesting. I am planning to be on Twitter. If I do anytime soon, I will join but sundays are so very lazy for me that I struggle to get up from bed.

    1. Suresh, you blog, na? So you can’t be technologically challenged. As for not being on FB and Twitter, you could be considered to be social media-averse. Now that can be easily remedied. Just join Twitter to begin with and participate in #TSBC. 😛 I really think you’ll enjoy it.

      PS: We have very interesting topics lined up for the discussion, including fiction. 😉

    Thanks for notifying. Most Sunday evenings (the time is 5.30 here in Spore) its family time where we go out somewhere with our son…So not sure if I will be able to make it, but will be in whenevr i can… 🙂

      Family time is sacrosanct and I look forward to interacting with you at #TSBC whenever you are able to make it. Based on feedback, we are doing a bit of a rethink on the timings, so if anything changes, I will let you know.

    I do have a twitter account and a grand total of ONE tweet since I created that account roughly two years ago! Also, Sunday afternoons are traditionally lazy nap times around these parts,so I may or may not join in everytime, but Im definitely going to be following the discussion as often as possible 😀

    1. Thanks, Ilakshee. The Sunday Book Club will meet on Twitter and participants can be anywhere in the world. So you could be in Delhi and I could be here in Mumbai and interacting with other members from all over.

    1. Great, Maddie. The topic for December 2nd is Banned Books and we have fantastic giveaways courtesy Random House India. All 7 of them and these books have been banned at some time or the other and are currently not banned in India. For more info follow @TSBookClub 🙂
