A blog anniversary, giveaways and YOU

Wow ! I sure didn’t expect so many people to participate in the giveaways. I had thought that I would be doing an “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe” to select a winner. Instead, I put all the eligible participants’ names on a slips of paper and had my mother draw the names of the winners of the Giveaways. And they are: 🙂

Giveaway 1: Sapna (@dreamysap)

Giveaway 2: Poonam (@poonamc)

CONGRATULATIONS, Sapna and Poonam ! Since both of you are on Twitter, please DM your contact details to me 🙂

Earlier this week, this blog of mine celebrated its 4th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, I decided to have a special and exciting event on the blog, something that has never been attempted before here.

And that something, dear reader, is the First. Ever. Giveaway. on My Favourite Things. Did I say Giveaway? Correction. It should be Giveaways as there are two of them. Details with regard to what they are, how you can participate and win them, and the Terms & Conditions are given below.

GIVEAWAY 1

Giveaway 1 is a bundle of 4 books: The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz;  Land of Seven Rivers; A Brief History of India’s Geography by Sanjeev Sanyal; Ladies Coupe by Anita Nair; and Renaissance Art: A Very Short Introduction by Geraldine A. Johnson (see photograph below). The books are not new, but are in excellent condition.

Blog Giveaway

How to participate
You can become eligible for a chance to win this Giveaway by:

  1. Liking the blog’s Facebook Page OR following me on Twitter. (You can do both, if you wish to; I wouldn’t mind at all 🙂 )
  2. Sharing this post on your Facebook wall using the FB share button given at the end of the post OR Tweeting about Giveaway 1 using the Twitter share button at the end of the post.
  3. Leaving a comment below stating “I would like to win Giveaway 1. I have liked your FB Page / follow you on Twitter and have shared the post.”

Terms & Conditions

  1. Incomplete entries will not be considered.
  2. This is an India only giveaway.
  3. The Giveaway will be sent via Courier/Speed Post to an address in India. While every attempt will be made to send it in a secure packet, I will not be held responsible or accountable for delays in delivery or if the packet is lost/damaged/stolen.
  4. Giveaway 1 cannot be substituted with anything else.
  5. Competition ends on Thursday, 19th June 2014 at 9 pm IST.
  6. The winner will be announced on the blog at 9 pm on Friday, 20th June 2014. The winner will also be contacted via email/twitter. If the winner does not respond by 27th June 2014, a new winner will be selected.

GIVEAWAY 2

If you are a regular reader of the blog, then you will be aware of my explorations of Mumbai, the city I live in. Over the last 4 years, I have written quite a few blog posts on the city and the feedback received from readers has always been very encouraging. One the things I kept getting asked was — “Will you take us around when we come to Mumbai?” OR “I wish I had come with you to this place”.

While deciding on what the giveaways would be like, I suddenly thought: why not conduct one of the Mumbai explorations I have done as a giveaway? The more I thought about the idea, the more I liked it. And so, Giveaway 2 is just that — I will take the lucky winner on a personalised and guided walk to be chosen from any one of the following trails.

Stories of Mumbai

How to participate
You can become eligible for a chance to win this Giveaway by:

  1. Liking the blog’s Facebook Page OR following me on Twitter. (You can do both, if you wish to; I wouldn’t mind 🙂 )
  2. Sharing this post on your Facebook wall using the FB share button at the given at the end of the post OR Tweeting about Giveaway 2 using the Twitter share button at the end of the post.
  3. Leaving a comment below stating which trail you would like to go on if you win and why. If you haven’t read the trails listed earlier in the post, I recommend that you read them, before making your choice.

Terms & Conditions

  1. This giveaway is open to all. However, if you are not a resident of Mumbai, do remember that you will have to travel to Mumbai for this.
  2. Incomplete entries will not be considered.
  3. The final decision on the winner of the Giveaway lies with me.
  4. The date and timing of the walk to be conducted will depend on the trail chosen by the winner, and the vagaries of Mumbai’s weather. While I will consider the winner’s wishes with regard to when the trail should be conducted, please note that the final decision lies with me.
  5. Giveaway 2 cannot be substituted with anything else.
  6. Competition ends on Thursday, 19th June 2014 at 9 pm.

That’s it ! Now all you need to do is to participate, spread the good word and keep your fingers crossed. I hope you are as excited about the Giveaways as I am.

Good luck to all. 🙂

  2. Hi Sudha, new on your blog and have only started browsing the various tabs. I guess ‘Exploring Mumbai’ will keep me hooked for quite a while. 🙂
About the Giveaway, “I would like to win Giveaway 1. The titles are both exotic and intriguing and have got me all curious.
I have liked your FB Page / have followed you on Twitter and have shared the Giveaway post.
Too bad I don’t live in Mumbai, else Giveaway 2 would have been the first choice. 🙂
For now, will just explore Mumbai virtually through your blog.

  6. Whoa! What a bonanza! I want it all! And I have tweeted and shared and follow your page on FB. But tell me, should one do this twice over to participate in both the giveaways? Or once is enough? Or is a person eligible to participate in only one giveaway?

Anyway, I would like to participate in the second one and my choice is ‘Neighbourhoods of Mumbai’. I hope there are other neighbourhoods than Matunga on offer.

But,,,,,I want the first giveaway too 😛

    1. Thanks for participating, Zephyr.

I’ll reply to all the questions one by one. 🙂
Sharing once is enough. All you need to do is indicate which of the giveaways you want to participate in. You can participate in any one or both of the giveaways, if you wish to.

Only the Matunga walk is available for the giveaway 2. And if you want Giveaway 1, all you have to do is to participate 😛

    2. Awww… Sorry Bikram. These Giveaways are India based partly because of their nature and partly because this is the first time that I’m having something like this on the blog. Call it an experiment of sorts. If this succeeds then I might just have an international Giveaway next time.

I see that you have participated and if you can give me an India-based address, then I will definitely consider you in the draw for the winner of the first giveaway. Thanks 🙂

But given that, if I have to make a choice, it will be Giveaway 2. I would like to explore Sion / Sewri / Sunday Morning walk in Mumbai. I have walked around Matunga a lot! Tweet at @lsunil

  11. Difficult choice – Each and every option is so tempting – But I decided that I will sacrifice Giveaway 1. for people who do not live in Mumbai. So I am participating for Giveaway 2. And would choose Bandra’s street art, simply because I love Bandra and Art and you and this combination is irresistible. 🙂

I like the way you pay attention to the details in each place and give a bit of background/ history to it. I think seeing either of the forts with you would be very informative and interesting.
